Flooring is one of my favourite design aspects of a home. It can totally change the entire mood of a room, as well as change the look from modern to traditional. I took the plunge when we had purchased our home and added the upgraded floor. It was risky, definitely not traditional but I knew it was the right decision once we made the purchase- no buyers remorse here! I had actually walked out of the design center on the first day with a very traditional standard "ash brown" wood colour flooring. I didn't have all the feels when I left and had to call one of my good friends (with exceptional taste) to come back with me the following day and support my more riskier floor choice. She pushed me to go with my gut and I never regretted that decision. This is where my motto comes in handy and a mantra to live by " Never be the smartest person in the room" (and if you are, then you need to get smarter friends)

But seriously, sometimes its hard to allow your instincts to make the final decision but when it comes to design this is what I do (almost) every time.

Flooring trends of 2016 are actually my 3 favourite styles. 1. Geometric shapes (Hexagon) 2. Wood (ceramic tiles made to replicate the look of wood) 3. Brick (the subway tile is timeless). The choice isn't just in the style of tile, but in the colour and texture. Depending on where your tiles are going (we'll be focusing on the bathroom) may impact your choice overall. I love dark floors in the bathroom...I feel like it's safe, and my own oasis. Accenting the dark floors with a marble shower tile adds elegance with enough masculinity that my husband will also enjoy the space and not feel like he's trespassing on my territory.

New Post Monday--->> Tiles for Miles (it's all in the placement)
