Bookshelf Design

FriYAY!!! I have already explained my love for all days of the week, but I just love saying "FriYay!" it makes me feel young again, like really young....like two and I can't pronounce the letter 'D'. Since we're pronouncing letters...lets go to B, B is for Books. Too many can make a bookshelf or a single shelf look plain messy. Let's clean that mess up!

Alright, here we go...

1.) Pick an accent color that you want displayed in the room

2.) Collect decor pieces in the house you can feature on your shelf, it doesn't matter if they aren't the right color (spray paint is only a store away) remember you can use candle holders, vases, statues, art pieces, frames etc. if you can't find much already in your home there is always a trusty goodwill or hobby store too!

3.) Now you need to put them into categories, my personal preference when grouping items would be all the frames, all the books, all the vases etc. together. This is easiest visually when grabbing an item to place on the shelf.

4.) The actual placement: Remember 3-2-3-2, or 6-4-6-4 etc. You don't want the shelves to be even. You also don't want a vertical row of books, frames, or flowers. For example, a picture frame isn't directly above another picture frame, instead there would be a candle or small clock. Instead you stagger them, you have 3 items on a shelf then the one below it you'd have 2, the same goes for any number of decors pieces you use. DON'T CLUTTER!

5.) Remember the accent color, the same thing applies, don't have the accent color featured one on top of the other, they need to be staggered as well. (skip some shelves where the color isn't present)

6.) Save money and use spray paint to match the pieces, and put together your own flower arrangement instead of buying one. #saveallthemoney

OK now that I have given your brain information overload, put it all to good use and make that bookshelf its own masterpiece!
