take advantage

Taking advantage of a small bedroom, and how to make the most of it. I personally don't have a huge master suite but it's a bit bigger then the average. Out of my 3 kids, my youngest definitely has the smallest. This in itself has been a challenge with room arrangement and keeping his room a safe zone. And by safe zone I mean keeping his bed away from the windows and dressers that he may find the 'need' to climb on top of. Yes, we have our very own zoo animal...a monkey on steroids, he's daredevil. In his first 3 years of life, he had broken his femur, received 4 stitches in his forehead and multiple bumps and cuts that probably needed stitches but I learned pretty quick how to use stern strips. If there are any other parents out there that feel my pain then you know how you need to be strategic when putting their bedrooms together.

Since Maddox's room is the smallest I've been finding it hard to navigate through the perfect layout. Heres a few things I have done, & you can do with any bedroom or any room in general. Instead of having a bedside table, have a bedside (or side table) floating shelf. Depending on the bedside table you could actually just bring it right off the ground with brackets and raise it up giving the illusion of more space. Instead of keeping the bedside

tables off the ground make them multi-functional (a few drawers to for storage). Trade out the big bulky bed and/or headboard, instead stick to something more sleek and less heavy looking.
Have a bed that gives the option to hide storage under it. Instead of the headboard, you can also have a feature wall, either with paint, wallpaper, or frames. Mirrors will also give the illusion of a bigger space, for either the closet doors, or an oversized mirror leaning against the wall. Overall room color makes a difference. Lighter color walls and window treatments will also give off the effect of more space. Add Wall sconces for lighting instead of floor lighting and keep the room clutter free. Remember that these are all just ideas you don't have to use them all just by taking one or two will help create space in a small room.
Enjoy the new look & space!
