the wall

Well, it's finally complete. An electrical issue, minor calculation errors, and a hinge I installed backwards -to my defensive on that hinge it was 9:30pm and I was exhausted. Overall this job went smoothly. I had joked that I would just get my Dad to 'build it' it for me, getting him to "show" me how the tools worked on the actual wood we'd be using. But all jokes aside I did actually build it WITH him. I built and installed all the shelves, painted, installed the hinges and door hardware all by myself! Go ahead, air high-five me, I was sweating by the end of it all. It may not be perfect (to a pro) but I love the hard work and creativity I put into this. It was a little bit of a bigger project than I had anticipated but let's be real here, ALL DIY projects are bigger then what you think they'll be. Whenever you see "EASY DIY Project" it's a lie. Doesn't mean it won't be fun and totally fulfilling it's just not easy.

That being said finishing a project that you start, and customize to your liking is by far one of the best feelings of accomplishment.

Here is a reminder that a lovely Home Depot employee told me... ALWAYS measure TWICE (I need 3-4x) cut ONCE (even then after all my measuring I still manage to F* something up).

It's a good thing I don't do DIY projects for clients.
