Man Cave'n it

Every man claims the need for "his" space, the infamous MAN cave. I don't necessarily love this idea of a man cave, I personally think having a space that a couple can retreat to is much better. BUT if you're going to help your man out with this, or you're a man reading this then here are a few pointers to make it the LEAST tackiest.

Figure what what you love, what is inspiring the room. From cars, gaming, to sports, art or just plain chillin' + drinking beers.

Once you've figured that out I would personally go with a nice deep rich paint color. A dark deep blue, or grey is always appealing. A couple things to remember: come up with a plan, always look for quality + comfort (we are dealing with men here, it needs to last) the little things definitely matter + DO NOT OVER THEME THIS ROOM!!! (Tacky is not a theme)

Now here are the absolute must haves in any sort of cave, Man Cave or Couples Cave.

1. A giant leather chair- camel brown leather to be exact.

2. Dark bold colors

3. Cocktail counter

4. Entertainment Unit (It doesn't have to have the biggest TV, if you like big get a projector screen that is retractable)

5. Smokers Jacket for you and your squad + a pipe (why not? even if you don't smoke how amazing would it be to slip on the old school smokers jacket? #boss)

6. Does your man hunt? I would personally put up a Faux Deer head- just to be funny

7. Cocktail Fridge (2 Options: get a fridge that has a glass door, or full faced fridge and then do something unique to it like this Marshall amp front)

8. Unique lighting- something original- (use piping, wood, JD Bottles etc.)

Try out this idea!!!

How to prep a bottle:

Using your favorite (liquor) glass bottle, you have two options.

1) You want to create a table lamp so in this case you’d measure with your string towards the top of the bottle a couple inches down the neck of the bottle.

2) You want your glass bottle light to hang overhead, then you’d measure and tie your string at the base of you bottle just below the label.

Once you’ve tightened the string around the bottle, tie it tight.

Slip the string off and soak it in lighter fluid (don’t get your fingers wet!)

Put the string back on the bottle and light it. Hold the bottle horizontally and rotate it like a BBQ spit, this way the flames will spread. When you hear the bottle crack…

Pour cold water along the string. The top of the bottle will fall off.

Sandpaper the edges for smoothness.

VOILA!

(Repeat this process depending on how many lights you’ll need)
